During the tabling of the 2013 Budget, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib
Tun Razak had announced the standardisation of prices of subsidised
goods in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan with Peninsular Malaysia.
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism deputy minister Datuk
Rohani Abdul Karim said the standardisation would start in January next
year.
"The government will bear the cost of sending the products so that more
will be available to the rural residents. The standardisation programme
under the 2013 Budget is a move to tackle the problem of rising cost of
living and the cost of basic necessities which are much higher than in
the peninsula," she told reporters here today.
