Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri
Yaakob said this was because the Malaysian Halal logo today was accepted
and most reliable in the whole world.
"Many foreign companies used Malaysia as a hub to repack their products
to get Malaysia's Halal stamp because of the ease of their products to
marketed throughout the world," he told reporters after a meeting at the
Tekun Nasional, here, Thursday.
Ismail Sabri said from 1998 to May 31, this year, Tekun Nasional had
issued a total of RM2.7 billion loans involving 258,676 operators with
repayment of RM1.58 billion.
"The biggest sector is services (45 per cent), retail (35 per cent),
agriculture and agro-based enterprises (10 per cent), manufacturing
(eight per cent) and construction and subcontractors (two per cent)..
agricultural entrepreneurs or industry based on agriculture only 10 per
cent, this amount is too small," he said.
