KOTA KINABALU, June 23 (Bernama) -- The Koperasi Pekerja-pekerja
Kerajaan Sabah Berhad (KOPEKS) should enhance its business and income to
achieve the National Cooperative Policy (DKN) target, said Chief
Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

He said in line with Malaysia's Economic Transformation Programme (ETP)
to achieve developed nation status, the cooperative sector needs to
enhance growth to as much as five times, to achieve the 10 per cent
contribution under the gross domestic product (GDP)in 2020.
"With the business value reaching hundreds of millions, as well as a
good management value chain, I am confident KOPEKS will become a driver
of change and economic transformation in Sabah's cooperative sector.
"What is important is that KOPEKS need to continue to be managed wisely
and professionally. I am optimistic that with competent and committed
leadership, KOPEKS and its members will progress even further," he said
while officiating the 38th KOPEKS annual general meeting here today.
The text of his speech was read by the state Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Hajiji Noor.
KOPEKS has a membership of more than 11,000.
