Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong
said they wanted to know how they could get their money back following
the freeze on the gold trading firm's accounts after a raid by the
authorities.
“I have advised them to be patient and wait until investigations are completed,” he said.
On Oct 1, the police, Bank Negara Malaysia,
Companies Commission of Malaysia and Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and
Consumerism Ministry jointly conducted a raid on Genneva over several
offences.
Days later, three other companies Pageantry Gold Bhd, Caesar Gold Sdn Bhd and Worldwide Far East Bhd were raided as well.
The
firms were under the central bank's list of companies and websites that
were not authorised or approved under relevant laws and regulations.
Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia secretary-general Datuk Dr Ma'amor Osman said the investors had also approached him for advice on the next course of action.
“Some accused us of having a hand in the freezing of Genneva's account.”
