KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The National Cooperative
Organisation of Malaysia Ltd (Angkasa) will lead more potential
cooperatives into the construction and real estate industry to assist
the government overcome the housing problem in the country.
Its President, Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Ali Baharum said the issue of rising
house prices, can see a reduction through the involvement of
cooperatives in this industry.
"I believe that with the presence of cooperatives, the construction
cost will be lower than what it is now, particularly with their
influence on the construction materials supply network.
"A joint venture or consortium among cooperatives in the country can be
formed for this purpose, and achieve greater competitiveness in large
scale housing, which is more challenging," he added.
He was speaking at the dinner in conjunction with the Angkasa-Singapore
National Cooperatives Federation (SNCF) meeting here yesterday.
