Quick response: Paramedics giving immediate aid to two ‘injured victims’
during the emergency drill at the Raub Australian Gold Mining Sdn Bhd plant in Bukit Koman, Raub.
Police, firemen and paramedics raced to the site and took the “injured victims” to waiting ambulances, while firemen fought to control the blaze and contain the spill of chemical compounds.
After two hours, the employees trooped back to work as the “danger” was over.
Its general manager Richard Lee said the emergency drill was a yearly exercise at the plant site in Bukit Koman.
“It is part of our initiative to enhance our readiness and efficiency in dealing with an emergency.
“Besides, it helps to strengthen our working relationship and co-operation with various agencies,” he said.
Lee said that since the plant began operations in 2009, all safety and health regulatory requirements were adhered to.
He added that to date, no major incident had occurred at the plant.
“Safety is our most important priority and we are committed to ensuring a safe environment for our employees and the local community,” he said.
Some 300 people took part in the drill.
