PUTRAJAYA, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- The master franchisor of Killiney
Kopitiam in Malaysia and the Middle East, Estinwira Sdn Bhd, through its
parent company, Distinct Legacy Sdn Bhd, will be opening its first two
outlets in the Middle East, namely in Mecca and Jeddah next year.

Estinwira's Executive Chairman, Datuk Dr Ahmad Ramzi Mohamad Zubir, said
the operations in Jeddah will start this coming February while the
outlet in Mecca will be opened before the start of the Hajj period.
"This is our effort to enter the Middle East market as they themselves want more Muslim food and beverage operators.
"Our target is also the Hajj performers," he told Bernama after the
opening of the Kopitiam Killiney outlet in Putrajaya by Deputy Minister
in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Ahmad Maslan, here today.
Ahmad Ramzi said the administrative work and management of the outlet
will be handled by them while the workers serving at both the outlets
will be locals from the Middle East.
Kopitiam Killiney, which was started off in 1919 in Singapore by a
Malaysian, currently has a network of kopitiam or traditional coffeeshop
franchises with 70 outlets including in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia,
Hong Kong, Australia, Brunei and China.
Ahmad Ramzi said the company was planning on opening another 50 outlets in Malaysia by 2015.
The outlets to be opened in the near future will be located in Puchong,
Ara Damansara, Wangsa Maju, Sungai Petani and Kota Baharu.
He said Estinwira was also working with government agencies such as the
SME Bank and Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (PNS) to help establish more
entrepreneurs in the franchising business especially among graduates and
the younger generaion.
