KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Associated Indian
Chambers of Commerce & Industry (MAICCI) has welcomed Bank Rakyat's
decision to exempt applicants from scrutiny by the Credit Tip Off
Service Sdn Bhd (CTOS) and Central Credit Reference Information System
(CCRIS) for the new Micro I-Financing Scheme (MUsk).

The micro-financing package announced on Jan 28 is now available at all
the bank's branches nationwide and from RM1,000 to RM50,000 with a 2.5
per cent service fee.
In a statement Tuesday, MAICCI President, Datuk K.K. Eswaran said the
move provided a "second lease of life" for many small business
entrepreneurs, who had been unable to expand their business due to being
blacklisted by CTOS or CCRIS.
Eswaran said the organisation had voiced its concern on the
blacklisting issue during a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri
Najib Tun Razak in May last year.
"We later presented to him a detailed memorandum highlighting the
importance of waiving the CTOS and CCRIS credit reference check, that
would benefit many entrepreneurs who were being blacklisted mainly for
standing as guarantors," he added.
The MAICCI is an apex Indian business organisation representing the
various Indian chambers of commerce and industry and trade associations.
