He said the koperasi media (komedia) or media cooperative set up by
Kawat, which had more than 100 registered members, was the first of
such.
"It's time for journalists to have their own cooperatives in line with
the media themselves always stressing on the importance of the
cooperative movement," he said, here, today.
He said a cooperative could give a lot of benefits to its members,
while the CCM wanted more cooperatives to be established to add to the
10,000 already in operation.
Kawat president said the idea of setting up the komedia came from the
members themselves who wanted the club to engage in business in order to
raise funds for its activities and for other benefits.
He said so far, 111 of Kawat's 136 members had joined the komedia, the
certificate of registration of which was received from CCM yesterday.
For a start, the komedia will act as a media consultant and engage in event management for any party keen to hold activities.
