Bureau chairman Datuk Muhd Khairun Aseh said the office received almost 2,000 complaints from the investors.

“The investors are unhappy with the raid and have asked the authorities for an explanation,” he told a news conference here.
Khairun said the bureau had written officially to Bank Negara for an assurance, subject to the company’s financial capability, to return all assets of the investors.

“We have come forward because the investors are categorised as bona fide investors,” he said.
He said that in the public interest, Bank Negara should list in the mass media the entities and individuals who had operated without approval.

Meanwhile, Al Jazzura Khan, the company’s consultant and client, said during the several years that he had been a consultant and an investor, the investors had never been cheated.
“We got whatever we bought and although the company was late in paying the profits at times, it had never failed to pay,” he said.

Bank Negara had said that the raids were conducted in the best interest of the public to avoid them falling victim to illegal gold investment schemes and to protect those who had already invested. – Bernama
