Investigating officer Khairul Izran Daud, 34, told the Sessions Court that Liew Chee Wah told him he had resigned and ceased to be involved in the administration of the company six months prior to his resignation.

“He told me this when I recorded his statement,” said Khairul during cross-examination by Liew's counsel Keppy Wong before Sessions Court Judge Rozana Ali Yusoff yesterday.

He was testifying in the trial of Genneva directors Ng Poh Weng who faced 93 charges of money-laundering, Marcus Yee Yuen Seng and Chin Wai Leong who faced 40 charges and 61 charges respectively.

Liew was charged with 30 counts of money laundering.

They were said to have committed the offences between July 2008 and June 2009 and were charged under Section 4 of the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Ng, 62, Yee, 60, Chin, 36, and Liew, 58, were also each accused of accepting deposits from the public in their capacity as directors without a valid licence at Jalan Kuchai Lama here between November 2008 and July 2009.

The company was charged with accepting deposits from the public without a valid licence at the same time and place.

To this charge, the four and the company were charged under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act.

The hearing continues on Nov 29.
