KOTA BAHARU, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Cooperative Commission
(SKM) is providing assistance of up to RM50,000 for renovation works
and collateral-free loan and up to RM50,000 as working capital for
cooperatives in Kelantan that are interested to set up retail shops.

SKM state director Wan Mohamad Sabri Wan Harun said the assistance
encompasses renovation of business premises such as signages, store
racks, computers and air-conditioning, and the interest for the loan is
at two per cent.
Speaking to Bernama here Monday, he said the Ministry of Domestic
Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism has targeted to establish 14
cooperative retail shops under the Retail Shop Transformation Programme
(Tukar) in the state this year.
To date, he said there are seven retail shops owned by cooperatives that are involved in the Tukar project in Kelantan.
The cooperatives are Koperasi Kakitangan Penjara Bhd, Koperasi Institut
Pendidikan Guru Bhd, Koperasi Felda Kemahang (II), Koperasi Gerak Niaga
Gua Musang, Koperasi Kampung Pasir Parit Chetok Bhd, Koperasi Pemandu
Kereta Sewa Pasir Mas Bhd and Koperasi Pengguna Kelantan Bhd.
